Managing Your Online Class

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Recently, a number of our clients have requested that we manage their online courses for them. These students are employed full-time and typically have a family to support or bills to pay or both making the time and focus required to manage an online course difficult to manage. Because of the growing need for these types of services, we designed an online course management service which transfers the pressure and stress from taking an online class from the student to the writer. For a pre-determined fee we assign a writer who is familiar with the course topic and has a degree in the subject area and that writer then logs into your online course platform such as Blackboard or similar and does the daily or weekly postings or substantive comments that are required by most online classes to show course participation. Additionally, the writer managing the course takes care of any other online tasks that are required such as online exams, group meetings, and related activities so that you can continue to work productively and spend time with your family. While the cost for written work is still charged at the assigned per page rate we do offer a 10% discount to all clients that sign up for the managed course service. For more information email, call or IM and let’s get you out the classroom and into your career.

Research : Liberia

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Periodically we at China Doll Publishing like to post important research and information that can be used in different types of academic and professional projects. One important story we discovered recently is a new documentary on Liberia, which is a country in West Africa with a long history of civil war and strife. While Haiti is the current news story because of the natural disaster it suffered recently, Liberia is 50 times worse than Haiti on a daily basis–it truly is hell on earth:

Administrator Pay-Up Again!

Monday, January 18th, 2010

College administrator pay is up again! Enough is enough. International students already pay as much as 3X what regular students pay for tuition in the US and in the UK as well in most instances. A recent article in the New York Times points out that despite the global recession and ongoing financial hardships that many students face, college and university administrator pay went up by an average of 1.1%. This might not seem like much but what the article also points out is the ridiculous amount of money that these administrators make. For example, the President of Ohio State University makes about $1.6 million! $1.6 million! Furthermore, many community college Presidents make in the area of $400 thousand annually and up! There is nothing that college and university Presidents do that deserve these types of exorbitant salaries. This is especially alarming considering that while these administrators are giving themselves raises, increases in student tuition, fees and college texts are going up even higher to pay for their ridiculous salaries. Where will it end?

Military & Education Assistance

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

The military in the United States has seen a huge influx of service members over the past 6 and 7 years and these service members are qualifying for educational assistance with the GI bill and other programs to pay for their higher education after they leave the military. Additionally, the military also pays for school while service members are in the military and this provides an enormous opportunity for military personnel to complete their tours of duty with college degrees or advance training or both. Military personnel and people leaving the military have the opportunity to attend college and university in a way more than at any previous time in the past and there are a host of online tutoring and research companies such as ours and others that can make this transition easier.

Recession = Graduate School

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

A variety of pundits are saying the global recession (or the great recession as many are calling it) is officially over. However, while the massive job layoffs and corporate downsizing might be coming to an end or slowing, few firms are actually adding jobs and real incomes continue to be down. Many firms and governmental authorities might want you to believe the recession is officially over but we all know the truth. Some consumer spending is up but it is up because people are not paying their mortgages. Additionally, fewer people are working full-time and more and more are returning to graduate school or law school in an effort to improve their future job prospects. Most developed societies across the globe are experiencing some fundamental shifts with the character of their economies changing forever as well. This now requires a greater number of service related employees or intellectual and knowledge workers with technology prowess and those societies that fail to adjust or adapt will slowly decline. So, if you haven’t already, you might want to consider brushing off those GMAT books or LSAT books and start preparing for these graduate school exams or face the prospect of employment irrelevance.

Essays for EFL Students

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

EFL or ESL (English as a foreign language or English as a second language) requires a specific writing approach for essays, term papers, theses (this is the plural form of thesis) and dissertations. Firstly, non-native speakers of English often miss or misunderstand the nuances within English and English grammar which can be confusing for the initiated. China Doll Publishing has several experienced writers who have taught English internationally for several years and understand the difficulties that non-native speakers experience when entering English speaking college and university programs. We understand the various learning theories and techniques that non-native speakers of English are exposed to overseas and are able to incorporate these principles into the order taking process as well as the writing process:

*We have dedicated employees experienced with working with non-native speakers of English

*We have writers who can write in a clear and simple manner that matches with students whose first language is not English

*Writers understand how to match their writing style with that of the client’s writing style

*Our staff and support personnel are available around the clock–call, send an email, or IM and we will follow-up soon thereafter

EFL and ESL students who have to produce well-written and cogent essays, research papers, and dissertations are often at a disadvantage in the English speaking university system because professors often grade them more on grammar and diction than on content. This is a fundamental flaw in the Western education system because EFL and ESL students are expected to have native fluency relative to writing and this is extremely difficult unless one has been raised in the West.

Degress = Practicality

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

The New York Times points out that college degrees and the schools that offer them are now attempting to make these degree more relevant to the workplace. Students are more concerned about their employment prospects now than at any time in the past and this is a critical shift in college student mindset. It also says something about the character of what a college education has become and what sector of society is defining what it means to be educated. This is why universities such as the University of Phoenix have been so successful because while most traditional universities tend to look askance at the University of Phoenix, almost all universities are now employing almost the same exact online format for some or all of their programs that the University of Phoenix has employed for years–don’t believe me, even Harvard now offers online degrees and online learning platforms and courses–see the Harvard Extension School. However, for those who are concerned about their employment prospects take a look at the University of Phoenix’s online programs that are targeting the workplace specifically:
